Assistant Attorney General

The Office of Criminal Appeals in Anchorage is seeking an appellate attorney. Lawyers in this section represent the state in most felony, and some misdemeanor, appeals of criminal convictions and in all appeals of post-conviction relief actions before the Alaska Court of Appeals and Alaska Supreme Court. They also represent the state in federal habeas corpus actions in the federal district court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The primary duties for this position include researching legal issues, drafting appellate briefs, petitions, and memorandums, and presenting oral arguments.
