This course will assist the prosecution team in understanding the mental health challenges faced while preparing for and proceeding through trial. Topics will include cognitive or developmental challenges in witnesses, mental health defenses from neurological disorders to determining malingering, the constantly developing issue of the ‘juvenile brain,’ and enhancing your team’s approach to help witnesses suffering from PTSD.
Course Information
CLE: Anticipated CLE credits will be 15 hours including 1 hour of ethics. NDAA will apply for CLE credit in South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Ohio. All other states will require the attorney to self-submit using their uniform certificate provided at the conclusion of the course. Eligibility: Open to all supervisory staff in prosecutors and government attorneys’ offices, i.e. lawyers in local, state, federal, tribal and military prosecutors’ offices, administrative professionals, paralegals who work in prosecutors’ offices and investigators who are employed by a prosecutor’s office.
