NDAA’s 2025 Domestic Violence training will cover victim centered approaches in domestic violence, sexual violence between intimate partners, dating violence, stalking, and other intimate partner violence.  It will discuss policies that support victims such as communication, rapport building, trauma-informed prosecution, evidence-based practices and more! 

Topics include: 

  • Understanding counterintuitive behavior of victims, the neurobiology of trauma, and how to conduct trauma-informed interviewing.  
  • DOJ’s Guidance on Prosecuting Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence 
  • Protecting the victim’s account through motion practice to lessen re-traumatization at trial.  
  • Working with victim specialists and community-based advocates to better serve victims. 
  • Corroborating a victim’s account without eyewitness testimony or physical evidence  
  • Considerations to secure witness/victim testimony.  
  • Evaluating and prosecuting a case with and without victim participation.   
  • Wellbeing considerations for working with victims. Taking care of yourself.   
  • Red flag indicators including animal cruelty. 
  • Resources for victims. 
  • Best practices and more!

Use of OVW Grant Funds:

OVW will no longer provide separate approvals for non-OVW sponsored events. Grantees wishing to attend non-OVW sponsored events using OVW grant funds must now contact their respective OVW grant program directly to request approval to attend.

Tuition must be paid in full prior to the first day of the course. You will not be admitted if you have an outstanding balance. If you would like to make a payment on-site, please see the Program Director upon arrival.

NDAA Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy:

Please submit all requests to NDAA in writing via email to training@ndaajustice.org. All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made 30 calendar days prior to the first day of the NDAA event to receive a full refund. Full refunds cannot be approved for requests received after this date. Should you need to cancel your registration less than 30 days but more than 14 days before the event, a 75% refund will be granted with a written request. NDAA regrets that refunds/credit will not be given for cancellations within 14 days of the event or for no-shows. However, substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Should another office member want to attend the course in your place please contact training@ndaajustice.org.

NDAA will apply for CLE credit in Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia based on state requirements and guidelines. All other attorneys seeking CLE credit should contact their state bar for more information. At the conclusion of the course and after completion of the electronic evaluation survey, all attendees will receive a uniform continuing education certificate that they may use to report their continuing education hours to their state bar or reporting agency.
