Cross examination is intimidating for many prosecutors, but it doesn’t have to be. Like in all stages of trial, effective cross examination is rooted in strong preparation. A proactive approach to cross examination requires prosecutors to analyze their case, develop a case theory, anticipate defenses, and prepare their witnesses. When done properly, cross-examination is not just a way to highlight weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the defense case, but it is also a way to gain testimony to help support your own case theory.
Join us on August 21, 2025, for NDAA’s Trial Advocacy Academy – 101 Series on Cross Examination. Participants will learn practical tips from an experienced trial attorney on how best to prepare, organize, and structure an effective cross examination.
