Virtual: What Courts Need to Know About the Interstate Commission’s COVID-19 Response

April 30, 2020

Webinar
3:00 pm EDT

Presented by the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision in partnership with the  National Center for State Courts.

The Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) transfers the community supervision responsibilities of individuals on probation or parole when the best chances for success exist in another state. All 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico have adopted the compact.

This webinar, brought to you in partnership with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC,) highlights interstate compact processes relevant to courts and the Compact’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Various state actions, including court closures, changes in supervision methods and travel restrictions, present challenges for states to adhere to rules and timeframes set forth in the Compact’s rules.

Therefore, the Commission has instituted several measures to assist states through these challenging times. Participants will learn about the measures which include the adoption of a new policy and new emergency rule that allow the Commission to temporarily suspend enforcement of Commission rules or parts thereof during a declared emergency.

Registration for this event is free!
