NDAA Urges Restoration of Key Law Enforcement Tool to Combat Money Laundering

The National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) expresses deep concern over the nationwide preliminary injunction issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas that halts enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). This ruling, part of the lawsuit Texas Top Cop Shop, Inc., et al. v. Garland, challenges the constitutionality of the CTA and threatens to undermine a critical tool in the fight against financial crimes. The CVFSA redirects funds from the False Claims Act into the Crime Victims Fund (CVF), which has suffered dangerously low funding levels in recent years. By doing so, this legislation will stabilize vital resources that prosecutors and victim service providers rely on to ensure victims receive the support they deserve.
