The National District Attorneys Association’s National Traffic Law Center (NTLC) is a resource designed to benefit prosecutors, judges, law enforcement officers and others in the justice system. The mission of NTLC is to improve the quality of justice in traffic safety adjudications by increasing the awareness of highway safety issues through the compilation, creation and dissemination of legal and technical information, and by providing training and reference services.
Our latest publications include the January 2024 issue of Between the Lines newsletter, Constitutional Law Issues in Impaired Driving Cases, Commercial Drivers’ Licenses: A Prosecutor’s Guide to the Basics of Commercial Motor Vehicle Licensing and Violations and Challenges and Defenses III: Responses to Common Challenges and Defenses in Impaired Driving Cases
Many prosecutors, law enforcement officers, judges and clerks are unaware of the federal prohibition against Masking (49 CFR 384.226). As a result, charges against CDL holders are often improperly deferred, diverted, reduced or dismissed.
NTLC’s video series, “From Roadside to Record,” produced with funding from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, is perfect for use in CDL related training. They focus on enforcing, prosecuting and adjudicating CDL traffic stops in accordance with federal and state regulations.
