Breaking Through Misconceptions – Prosecuting Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse cases are among the most complex you will handle in your career. The investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse requires specialized training, collaboration, and a deliberate and victim-centered approach. Gaining a better understanding of child sexual abuse, including the misconceptions surrounding it, is imperative to achieving justice for child victims.  

 Join NDAA and our experienced faculty for two half-days of training dedicated to the prosecution of child sexual abuse. Topics to be addressed include:  

  • Common misconceptions in child sexual abuse cases 
  • Understanding medical findings and STI/STD findings in children 
  • Preparing child victims and their families for court  
  • Corroborating child victims’ statements 
  • Introducing and preparing for State expert testimony  
  • Recantation  
  • Delayed disclosure

Anticipated CLE credits: 7.50 Credits

NDAA has applied for CLE credit in Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia based on state requirements and guidelines. All other attorneys seeking CLE credit should contact their state bar for more information. At the conclusion of the course and after completion of the electronic evaluation survey, all attendees will receive a uniform continuing education certificate that they may use to report their continuing education hours to their state bar or reporting agency.
